One of the very best things about the US is the sheer diversity of landscapes and cultures within the country. With this in mind, it’s no surprise that America is home to many of the world’s most iconic road trips, taking in all the sights along the way. The Pacific Coast Highway runs along the west coast of the US, taking in the sun-drenched beaches from San Francisco to LA and San Diego, whilst a road trip through the southern states will see you explore the likes of Nashville, Memphis and Atlanta.

The currency of the US is the US dollar, which is broken down into 100 cents.

Travelling around the USA

By bus and train

Although distances are long between the cities of the US, there’s a comprehensive bus system in place, with the Greyhound bus being the most well-known. Trains are less well spread across the US and are often more expensive than both bus and plane journeys – but they do provide some great views! Check out Amtrak for more information.

By plane

To save time, domestic flights across the country are a great way to get around. You’ll need to book in advance to get a good deal, but a quick and easy flight will certainly save you a few hours on a bus or train.

Within cities

Most cities have an excellent and well established public transport system, with plenty of buses, trams and subway systems. The notable exception here is LA, where public transport is somewhat lacking and most visitors find it easier to hire a car to get around.
